Serdang, 9–10 September 2025 – The Institute for Mathematical Research (INSPEM), Universiti Putra Malaysia, successfully organized a Workshop on Malaysian Rubber Price Simulation Using Geometric Brownian Motion (GBM) at the Ulugh Beg Computer Laboratory, INSPEM.
The workshop was attended by officers from the Malaysian Rubber Board with the aim of enhancing their understanding of commodity price analysis using stochastic mathematical methods.
The learning sessions were conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Nur Iqmal Ibrahim, Head of the Computational Mathematics and Ethnomathematics Laboratory, who emphasized the practical application of the GBM model in rubber price forecasting and its potential use in supporting policies and the industry.
The program was also supported by two Research Officers from INSPEM, Dr. Mohamed Faris Laham and Ms. Zurita Ismail, who acted as facilitators to ensure the smooth running of the hands-on training sessions.
The workshop is expected to strengthen the strategic collaboration between INSPEM and the Malaysian Rubber Board and to open up opportunities for the application of advanced mathematical approaches in economic analysis and the country’s commodity industry.
