Section of High Performance Computing Services

Section of High Performance Computing Services (HPCS), was established on July, 2011 under the Laboratory of Computational Sciences and Mathematical Physics and started operations since November 2011 after the acquirement of a new IBM server. The primary objective of the section is the delivery and support of a large HPC resource available for deployment to UPM research community. HPC is a basic research division where the computer scientists, mathematicians, researchers, students collaborate to advance the state of the art of scientific computing. Our goals are to discover, adapt and apply computational techniques that promise to be useful in solving complex problem. The INSPEM HPC cluster is a part of the campus grid service network also known as PUTRAGRID along with four other clusters that serve as the resource of HPC for the university. The main of objectives of the section are:

i. Analyze, design, develop, improve, commission, test and implement High Performance Computing for UPM researchers

ii. Provide a larger resource for scientific computing via the existing Campus Grid network

iii. Introduce the technique to evaluate the performance of parallel computing

iv. Provide consultations to all researchers regarding parallel computing and any relevant user applications or software required for scientific computing purposes.
