Research Programs

1. Mobile and Satellite Communication

This program investigates the convergence of terrestrial mobile networks (like 4G/5G) with space-based satellite systems. Research focuses on achieving seamless global coverage, improving signal reliability in remote areas, and optimizing bandwidth for high-speed data transmission across both platforms.

2. Radiation exposure from Wireless Signals (cyber-safety)

This area studies the biological effects and safety implications of electromagnetic radiation emitted by wireless devices (phones, towers, routers). Researchers assess specific absorption rates (SAR), develop safety standards to minimize health risks, and create protocols for safe device usage in public and private spaces.

3. Network Security

This program focuses on protecting the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of computer networks and data. It involves developing advanced firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocols to defend against cyber threats like hacking, malware, and denial-of-service (DoS) attacks.

4. Cloud Computing

Research here centers on the delivery of on-demand computing services—including servers, storage, and databases—over the internet. Key topics include optimizing data center energy efficiency, enhancing virtualization technologies, and ensuring data privacy within public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.

5. 6G

This is the frontier of cellular technology, looking beyond 5G. Research explores the use of terahertz (THz) frequencies to achieve data rates 100 times faster than 5G, ultra-low latency (microsecond level), and the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) directly into network management.

6. Internet of Things (IoT)

This program studies the network of physical objects—"things"—embedded with sensors and software to connect and exchange data with other devices and systems.  Research areas include energy-efficient sensor design, massive machine-type communication (mMTC), and smart city applications.

7. Wireless Systems

This is a broad field covering the fundamental technologies that enable data transmission without wires. It encompasses the design of antennas, signal processing algorithms, modulation techniques, and protocols for various standards like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Zigbee to ensure efficient and robust communication.
