Taiping, 4–5 October 2025 – The INSPEM–SERATAS 2025 Mathematics Camp, organized by the Institute for Mathematical Research (INSPEM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), was successfully held from 4 to 5 October 2025 at Sekolah Menengah Sains Raja Tun Azlan Shah (SERATAS), Taiping, Perak.
The programme brought together 118 Form Two students with the main objective of nurturing their interest in Mathematics and helping them view the subject from a more enjoyable, creative, and real-life perspective.
Throughout the two-day event, a variety of interactive activities were conducted to encourage students to explore ideas, think critically, and collaborate in teams. Through game-based active and collaborative learning approaches, participants were exposed to engaging and stimulating ways of learning Mathematics.
The camp was facilitated by seven lecturers and seven Research Officers from INSPEM, UPM, who guided the students through hands-on and thought-provoking sessions. Their involvement provided meaningful learning experiences while demonstrating the real-world applications of Mathematics in research and daily life.
This Mathematics Camp not only strengthened the partnership between INSPEM and SERATAS but also supported the broader effort to cultivate students’ interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) from an early age.
With the enthusiasm and cooperation of all parties, the programme successfully inspired creativity, critical thinking, and confidence among students in exploring the vast and fascinating world of Mathematics.
