The objectives of the laboratory are:
To focus on collaborative scientific research and development in mathematics, and physical sciences.
To encourage some areas of mathematics that are of relevance to other sciences and industries.
To focus on research in enhancing teaching and learning of mathematics.
To strengthen the field of mathematical philosophy and ethnomathematics.
